Cononley Sports Club
Sport in Cononley has been played for over a hundred years, originally the different sports kept themselves as independent units but in 1961 the different sections came together and formed what is now known as Cononley Sports Club.
Cononley Sports club now run two senior and two junior cricket teams, two senior football teams and a table tennis team, we are keen to run a junior (under 14/15) football team but require parents to get involved to be able to do this.
Anyone wishing to help with running a junior football team please contact Don Bell 635197 for details.
The club now boasts the best facilities in the area, this includes a Function room / bar / kitchen which will cater for up to 80 people and is available for hire for private parties, christenings etc. The club committee use this room to organise social evenings by hiring entertainment or a disco to raise funds to purchase both 'ground' and 'sports' equipment. Please watch the village notice board for events. Anyone wanting details about the room hire or enquiring about playing sport, please contact Don Bell.
We have a small but very active committee, anyone who feels they could contribute to the running of the club either on the sports side or the social side would be very welcome. Committee meetings are on the first Monday in the month at 7.30pm in the clubhouse.
The committee: - Brian Nelson (president,) Donald Bell (chairman,) David Mason (secretary), Malcolm Watson (Treasurer,) Elizabeth Calvert, Philip Boocock, Dean Simpson, Paul Cauvin
